Homeless Veterans Month~ August 2009

VFW Post 8904 conducted a Homeless Veterans Fundraiser during the month of August 2009. On August 1, 2009 Shelby County Judge Rick Campbell signed a proclamation proclaiming August as “Homeless Veterans Month”. Press releases were made to the local media encouraging private citizens to donate. Donation containers were also set up at the businesses of three post members. Letters explaining the plight of homeless veterans were sent to various county businesses. A total of $931.00 was collected with half being sent to Department as a Homeless Veteran Donation in accordance with 2009-10 SOP.

Quartermaster Larry Hume holds check for $465.50 (1/2 the total collected) being sent to VFW Department of Texas.
