Go Green

VFW Post 8904 currently has two ongoing recycling programs for the citizens of Shelby County.

RECYCLE PRINTER TONER AND INKJET CARTRIDGES

Did you know that 3 ½ quarts of oil are used for every laser cartridge produced, the plastic in each cartridge never decomposes, and in 7 months, cartridge remanufacturing will save more oil that was spilled by the Exxon Valdez in Alaska?  Let’s recycle together – IT’S FREE!  Bring to Chief Imaging at 614 Tenaha St, Center M – F, 9a – 5p.

 CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS

Post 8904 has joined “Cell Phones For Soldiers” in an attempt to recycle more of the millions of cell phones that are retired each year and turn that cash into free phone cards for our troops.  Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded by teenagers Robbie and Brittany Bergquist from Norwell, Mass., with $21 of their own money. Since then, the registered 501c3 non-profit organization has raised almost $2 million in donations and distributed more than 500,000 prepaid calling cards to soldiers serving overseas.  The phones are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each donated phone – enough to provide an hour of talk time to soldiers abroad.  You can read more about the program at http://cellphonesforsoldiers.com/    If you would like to donate a cell phone you no longer use, please drop it by Chief Imaging, 614 Tenaha St, Center, Texas.
